Our client is a leader in the production of packaging glass products in Bulgaria.
Currently, they are looking for a dedicated Regional Finance Manager, South East Europe, to join their team in Sofia.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring oversight, governance, and quality assurance of local accounting, tax, and statutory processes.
Job Profile for Regional Finance Manager, South East Europe
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Oversee and review the local monthly and annual closing processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission to Group Consolidation
- Review statutory financial statements and supporting documentation prepared by the team or external providers
- Validate key accounting judgments, estimates, and reconciliations (e.g. fixed assets, provisions, inventories), ensuring compliance with local GAAP and alignment with Group principles
- Ensure that accounting treatments appropriately reflect business transactions and legal requirements
- Ensure full compliance with local tax obligations through review and approval of tax returns, calculations, and filings prepared by the team or external advisors
- Act as senior finance counterpart with tax authorities, overseeing responses to audits, inspections, and enquiries
- Review tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and tax-sensitive accounts, ensuring consistency and technical robustness
- Monitor tax law changes and assess implications, risks, and opportunities, escalating matters to local and Group management when relevant
- Coordinate and lead at the governance level of local external, internal, and tax audits, ensuring readiness and quality of information provided
- Act as the main finance representative in interactions with local auditors, regulators, and authorities
- Oversee relationships with local banks, reviewing financing-related information and supporting discussions in coordination with Group Finance
- Review and challenge local management reports and KPIs, ensuring data quality, consistency, and comparability across entities
- Analyse critically financial and operational information to support informed decision-making by local and Group management
- Oversee budget, forecast, and variance analyses prepared by the team, ensuring alignment with Group guidelines
- Provide high-level financial insights and recommendations, rather than producing routine reports
- Support investment analysis and CAPEX projects, providing financial assessment and profitability analysis
- Ensure appropriate governance and control over fixed asset registers, depreciation policies, and asset movements
- Responsible for managing, motivating and developing the team, namely in terms of the elaboration of training and development plans
- Define clear roles, responsibilities, and review mechanisms within the team
- Ensure proper implementation of Group finance policies, procedures, and internal controls at a local level
Candidate Profile for Regional Finance Manager, South East Europe
- Must be fluent in Bulgarian and English, both written and spoken
- Several years of experience in accounting, taxation, or audit, preferably in an industrial or multinational environment
- Strong knowledge of local GAAP, tax legislation, and statutory reporting
- Solid understanding of IFRS interfaces with local accounting, internal controls and compliance requirements
- Experience with SAP FI/CO or similar ERP systems
- Proven experience reviewing and supervising statutory closing and tax compliance processes
- Prior experience managing or overseeing finance teams or shared-service environments
- Strong review, analytical, and critical-thinking capabilities
- Ability to challenge assumptions and ensure robustness of financial information
- Clear and confident communicator with senior internal and external stakeholders
- Leadership skills with a focus on supervision, coaching, and performance oversight
